Recycling for Raptors

You’re invited to participate in The Raptor Center’s Recycling for Raptors program. Begun in 2003, this activity helps individuals and organizations recycle their inkjet printer cartridges while raising funds to support The Raptor Center.

With a population of 300 million people, the United States has more than 50 million inkjet printers, each using an average of four ink cartridges per year. Of the 200 million+ cartridges that are used, only about 30 percent are recycled, while 90 percent could be. This means that more than 500,000 units go to landfills every day! The Raptor Center, in its modest way, is trying to change this.

Why not join forces with The Raptor Center today and donate your cartridges, each of which brings a small donation to The Raptor Center? Here’s how:

  1. Contact our donor services hotline at 612-624-6945 or e-mail us at trcink@umn.edu. Provide your name and/or organization name, how best to reach you, and what time is most convenient.
  2. A Raptor Center volunteer will contact you to discuss how you might participate in the program.
  3. Not all inkjet cartridges qualify for recycling. Please visit our Qualified Inkjet Cartridges Web page for guidance on which cartridges to collect and send or bring to The Raptor Center.
  4. At that point, your participation can get underway. You will be keeping inkjets out of landfills and helping The Raptor Center, too.
70,000!
Did you know that The Raptor Center has helped recycle more than 70,000 ink cartridges – amounting to more than 6 tons of material – since Recycling for Raptors began?
