Recycling for raptors
Help protect raptors and the world we share by recycling your used Inkjet cartridges You are invited to participate in The Raptor Center’s Recycling for Raptors program. Started in 2003, this activity helps individuals and organizations to recycle their inkjet printer cartridges while raising funds to support The Raptor Center. Did you know that nearly one million cartridges are disposed of each day in the United States? Current estimates reveal that approximately 30% of ink cartridges are being recycled. While that is a good start, about 70% are still going into landfills, and it can take as long as 450 years for a cartridge to decompose in a landfill. The Raptor Center, in its modest way, is trying to change this. Join forces with The Raptor Center today by donating your used cartridges. You will be helping to improve the environment, and your cartridge contributions will help support The Raptor Center's treatment of sick and injured raptors, educational and research activities. - To request your postage-paid mailer(s), contact our donor hotline at 612-624-6945 or e-mail us at trcink@umn.edu. You simply fill the mailer with multiple cartridges (as many as will fit), seal and place it in the mail.
- If you are in the vicinity of The Raptor Center, located at 1920 Fitch Avenue in St Paul, MN and would like to donate your used cartridges, our lobby volunteers will be happy to accept them.
- Unfortunately, not all inkjet cartridges qualify for recycling, and qualifying cartridges are occasionally subject to change. So, before mailing or donating your cartridges, we request that you visit our Qualified Inkjet Cartridges Web page.
- Should you have any questions, please call or email us using the contact information shown above. Let us know how best to reach you, and what time is most convenient. A Raptor Center volunteer will contact you.
Please help keep inkjets out of landfills and help The Raptor Center, too. We greatly appreciate your interest in The Raptor Center and thank you for your support. The Raptor Center and Recycling for Raptors is proud to partner with the University of Minnesota's ReUse program. The public can drop off cartridges and take advantage of this program's commitment to recycle items. 125,000! With the help of many individuals and organizations throughout the United States, The Raptor Center has recycled more than 125,000 ink cartridges - amounting to over 8 tons of materials - since Recycling for Raptors began! In 2011 alone, 13,696 cartridges were recycled.
